Facilities

Malthouse Marine Associates Ltd manage 170 ft of water frontage on the Lower Grand Union Canal at Brentford. The moorings are situated in the weir controlled, semi tidal pound between Thames Lock and Brentford Gauging Locks which means we experience rise and falls on many tides and all narrowboats and Dutch barges are correctly moored for all states of the tide or flood water. From the mooring you can access all of the connected Canal & River Trust navigation and vessels can access the River Thames 2 hours either side of high water during the day (special arrangements must be made out of working hours). Boats are moored 2 or 3 abreast and for this reason we can only accommodate metal hulled boats. The services we provide are:
  • Individual metered 3 phase electricity for each boat and charged on a quarterly basis.
  • Water taps and hose pipes along the wharf
  • Elsan toilet disposal
  • Telephone point (by arrangement)
  • Refuse disposal
  • Laundry (by arrangement)
  • Off street parking (evenings & w/e)
  • Cycle storage
  • Secure, gated access and non towpath moorings
  • Coal bunkers
  • Coal, gas, diesel, kindling wood delivered to the wharf
  • Communal pergola, bbq and seating area
We have 7 moorings, one operated as fully residential and the others as leisure or pied a terre moorings. It is not possible for leisure/pied a terre boats to have a post box or postal address at the mooring. We occasionally have boats for sale that may be sold on their mooring. We can accommodate boat lengths from 45 - 65 ft and all boats must be metal hulled. (no wood or fibreglass hulls)  They must all have functioning, powered propulsion, carry CRT Boat Safety Certificates and be insured with comprehensive cover.

Malthouse Wharf is 30 yards from local pub, The Brewery Tap, 200 yards from shops and restaurants in Brentford High Street. Bus routes (237, 267, E2, E8, 235, 65, N9) depart in all directions from here and its a 10 minute walk to the overland rail station to London Waterloo. Major road routes M3, M4, M1, M25 are easily accessible and London Heathrow airport is 20 minutes away.

Brentford is a busy and bustling corner of West London and offers a friendly and diverse culture that sits comfortably with Brentford's unique water based working history. The town retains an air of grittiness and character that is missing from so many of it's gentrified neighbouring town centres. The old industrial part that surrounds our wharf is part of a comprehensive redevelopment by Ballymore and we have worked with them for many years to give insight into the unique waterfront history of Brentford and ensure it's character is retained for future generations to enjoy.

We have Property Owners Liability insurance cover and all people that enter & use the wharf do so at their own risk.
